  3.   AxMan is a Win95/WinNT application that split large files into pieces.

  5.   AxMan takes care of all of the overhead of cutting the file into pieces
  6.   that will fit onto floppy disk, writing it to the disk, and restoring the 
  7.   file back from the disks.

  9.   AxMan can also be used to split files into fix size pieces.

  22. REGISTRATION
  23. ------------
  24.   AxMan costs just $10 (U.S.) to register,  Registering AxMan entitles you to 
  25.   free bug fixes, new minor releases, along with automatic notification (via 
  26.   email only) of when these are available.  AxMan v2.10 (beta4) has no feature 
  27.   limitations, but does implement a 30 day trial evaluation time limit. It also,
  28.   includes one of those annoying nag screens reminding you that you are using an 
  29.   unregistered version.
  30.   Included with this version of AxMan, is AxManRestore, which is a restore-only
  31.   version of AxMan.  AxManRestore is considered to be a free product which you
  32.   automatically obtain the rights to, and in whihch you may freely distribute
  33.   to others.

  43. AxMan Features 
  44. ------------
  45.   - AxMan can split any file, regardless of type, size or long filename.
  46.  
  47.   - AxMan can automatically write the split file pieces to disk. There is
  48.     no need to run AxMan and then copy the pieces to disk manually.
  49.  
  50.   - AxMan does not require that the disks be empty.  Unlike Microsoft Backup
  51.     and other utilities, AxMan does not require that the disks that it is
  52.     splitting the file to be empty.  Instead, AxMan will fit as much onto
  53.     each disk as it can.

  55.   - AxMan can include a restore version (AxManRestore.exe) when splitting that
  56.     will restore the split files without AxMan being installed.
  57.  
  58.   - AxMan can calculate a checksum for each piece to guarantee the integrity
  59.     of all AxMan files.

  61.   - AxMan restores the file for you.

  63.   - AxMan if fully customizable.

  82.     users can restore using "copy /B" and Unix users can restore using "cat".
  83.     This option will also minimize on disk space used. AxMan can restore
  84.     this split type, however, remember, when splitting to non-AxMan format,
  85.     AxMan will not be able to verify that pieces are being put together 
  86.     in the correct order, how many pieces there are total, etc.

  88.   - AxMan can write a batch file to restore the file when the "Non-AxMan" 
  89.     split option is chosen.

  91. Installation
  92. ----------------------
  93. AxMan v2.10 (beta 4) comes with full installation and deinstallation 
  94. support. To install AxMan, simply unzip the package (which you had to do
  95. to read this file), and run the install.exe.  That's it!
  96. To uninstall, select Start Menu, then Settings, then Control Panel, then
  97. add/remove Programs, then AxMan.  That's it!

  157.   If you experience an uncaught exception, General Protection Fault (GPF),

  160.   Please do not assume someone else will report it.  We will try to resolve
  161.   reported bugs as quickly as possible.  However, we can't resolve bugs that
  162.   are not reported.

  167.      the version of AxMan (as shown in the About dialog box)

  172.   Note that if a disk that contains a ".axman" file becomes corrupt, there 
  173.   is nothing we can do to help you recover/restore the file.  Instead you
  174.   may want to check into some of the many popular disk utilities.
